Wisdom Teeth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are the final set of molars that we all get in our late teens or early twenties. In some cases, wisdom teeth are healthy and properly aligned and can remain in the mouth, but more often than not, they are misaligned and require extraction.

We’ve all seen the photos of family members looking like chipmunks after a wisdom teeth extraction and for many, the idea of having the procedure generates a lot of anxiety. Who hasn’t heard horror stories about dry sockets?

Why is the procedure necessary?

When wisdom teeth are misaligned, they can sometimes position themselves horizontally. They might also be angled toward or away from the second molars. Other times, they might be angled inward or outward. Poor alignment of your wisdom teeth can damage your other teeth, jawbone, or surrounding nerves.

Our team promises a worry-free procedure. Each patient will start with a detailed consultation where we will outline the procedure and answer any questions you might have. Remember nothing fights fear like information.

When it’s time for the procedure, we decide on the level of sedation based on each individual client, their medical history and which option would be the most comfortable for them. We offer options of Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas) or conscious sedation (also known as twilight sedation.)

After the procedure, our staff will give each patient detailed instructions on how to care for their gums, minimizing discomfort and worry.
